Guerrieri Rizzardi Wine Cellar and Museum

Guerrieri Rizzardi Wine Cellar and Museum, Bardolino, Italy2016

The Counts Guerrieri Rizzardi – a wine and oil producing family – want to build the extension of their current winery, a museum, a small auditorium, a point of sale and a restaurant. The site is close to Lago di Garda in a semi-rural area surrounded by olive tree groves and vineyards. Rather than building an object, the project proposes the construction of a small village – a borgo – a set of small buildings contained by a perimeter wall that forms a private, intimate world. The winery and bottle conservation area make up a podium that regularizes the steep slope of the site. On this artificial podium the pavilions containing the rest of the program are located. Towards the outside, the project reveals as a simple perimeter wall perfectly integrated into the semi-rural landscape. Once inside, you discover an interior garden, a silent world where vegetation, water and the pavilions are mixed up and create a new scenery.
