Located in a corner of the Eixample quartier in Barcelona, the refurbishment mainly plays with the direct light coming into the house during the entire day. The small apartment benefits from a great orientation which provides daylight throughout the day. The project emphasizes the light and bring luminosity to the innermost part of the house. In parallel, it pursued the idea of a fluid, continuous, open-plan layout to maximize the square meters available.
A simple palette of light grey materials mitigates the shadows and creates a sense of spaciousness, while a few mirror surfaces enhance the perspectives and reflects the outside vegetation. Mobile partitions allow for a flexible use of the space.
With precise and clean interventions, the design seeks to solve the different inclinations of a corner typology to reach a simple neutral space, where light is the protagonist of the project.
