Private Apartment G47

Private Apartment G47, Barcelona, Spain2016

The project represents and synthesizes the transformation of a classic typology of the Eixample district of Barcelona in a contemporary work/living space.
The renovation pivots around the idea of getting the most from each fragment of space available to create a well-defined and bright series of rooms. Moreover, specific surgical interventions enhanced the spatial experience and quality of the space.
The project assumes the main characteristics of the building. The structure and the disposition of holes in the facade and in the interior courtyards allow to free the work area and to organize a flexible space characterized by the principal architectural elements of the housing.
Materials and textures try to get the simplicity and comfort required in a work-living space. The apartment’s atmosphere is defined by all-around painted wood coats and by a continuous micro-cement floor. Likewise, some reflecting surfaces are used to symmetrically mirror the main spaces, while different light gradients and grey nuances are the results of the dark sheer curtains which occasionally divides the main rooms.
